I'm working on a summer tour concept with Stu Baker and some other comic friends spread throughout the country.  The basic idea is to do a few strings of shows: one west coast, one midwest, and one easta coast.  We're working on a theme and the logo to the left is aconcept we’re considering for the tour. Everyone knows that when a comedian is on tour, he or she eats a lot of cheeseburgers. We plan to find the best burger joints along the way and will seek out the best cheeseburger in every city we perform in. We’ll be putting up YouTube videos of our exploits doing comedy and eating burgers.

So, what I need from you is feedback... love the idea?  hate it?  Indifferent?  Suggestions?  Please, tell me!  Just click "comments" up above in blue and let me know what you think, thanks!

Also, Rust Belt Comedy is putting on a show at The Blue Wall in South Buffalo this Thursday... it's going to be quite the kickass show, I suggest you be there (see poster below).  Also, there's a picture from the Alfred University gig where I opened for J. Chris Newberg.  Good times.

INFO FOR COMICS: Submissions to be considered for the January edition of "Chet Wild's Comedy Showcase" at The Comedy Club in Rochester are now being taken.  This showcase will be filmed and sets may be aired on MY-TV.  E-mails should be sent to me no later than 12noon this Sunday.  Full information is available on the Open Mic & Showcase page.
First off, shout outs to Alfred University for this past weekend.  I had a blast opening for J. Chris Newberg this past weekend... even if I was introduced as "Child Wet" instead of "Chet Wild."  I will probably post a YouTube clip of that soon.

This Thursday (7:30pm) and Friday (7:30pm  & 10pm) I'll be opening for Bobby Slayton at The Comedy Club in Rochester.  Bobby just filmed a new 1-hour special for Showtime last month and if you haven't seen him live... well, let's just say there's a reason they call him "The Pitbull of Comedy."  I'm really pumped for these shows and am hoping I can get him to sit down for an episode of Behind The Funny.  If you're in town, make sure you get your tickets now, as the club anticipates these being sell-out shows.

On Saturday at 7:00pm I'll be hosting "BS Live" at Buffalo State College, a Saturday Night Live style sketch show that is serving as a final project for graduates of the Television Films Arts program.  Here's the show description:

If you can imagine Saturday Night Live meets Buffalo State, then you’ve got the idea. Television and Films Arts (TFA) majors have written scripts, produced videos, and coordinated all phases of a live TV show to be taped in front of a studio audience.

The show’s executive producer is Brooke Rewa, a TFA graduating senior who worked closely with a Communication Department advance production class for all technical support. BS Live will showcase hilarious skits and pre-produced videos. The show’s host, student and local comedy club performer Chet Wild, will keep the audience entertained between acts.

The show is looking to be pretty kickass.  I've seen the short films they've put together for the show and they are killer.  Plus, you get to see me host, do stand-up, and hopefully (not) forget any of my lines in the 3 sketches I'm in.  The show starts at 7:00pm.  Get there early to ensure a seat, there's no set ticket price, just donations at the door.

Just for fun, if you haven't seen it - watch the new video put out by Muppet Studio.... it's The Muppets taking on Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"... Animal's part is an instant classic.  Enjoy.

Lastly, I've updated my calendar with a bunch of shows for 2010.  Take a look.... catch ya at a show soon!

It’s that time of year again… CHRISTMAS… which means it’s nearly impossible to escape the constant barrage of CHRISTMAS MUSIC.  Generally speaking, I’m okay with this… in fact, I enjoy most Christmas music.  However, I was listening to 1980s tune “Do They Know It’s Christmas” by the charitable super-group Band Aid and realized this may be one of the most retarded songs ever written.

Let’s just take a look at one verse of the song, line-by-line…
1.  And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmastime.
2. The greatest gift they'll get this year is life.
3. Where nothing ever grows.
4. No rain nor rivers flow.
5. Do they know it's Christmastime at all?

Um…..
1. Perhaps the most factually correct line in this song.  It’s fucking Africa, why WOULD there be snow?
2. YES, they WILL have the gift of life…. Many live in huts and have minimal clothing.  What if it DID snow as you imply you’d like it to.  They would probably die.
3. Where nothing ever grows.  WHERE NOTHING EVER GROWS?  Doesn’t a significant portion of Africa consist of the GOD DAMNED RAINFOREST?  It’s only the MOST DENSE place for life on earth, where it’s estimated that there may be millions of plant and animal life not even discovered by man yet!
4. No rain nor river flow?.... see RAINforest.  Also, if I hop in a time machine to 3rd grade, how about The Nile River, The Congo River, The Niger River…. Come on now!
5. Probably not, since it’s a CHRISTIAN holiday and most of the people you’re singing about aren’t Christian.

Christ on a cracker, am I the only one listening to these lyrics?!?! I’m just saying…

Anyway… had some really fun shows lately.  My thanksgiving showcase had 140+ in the audience which was awesome, and the Steve Wilson shows were a lot of fun as well.  Check out the pics below (click to enlarge).

And if you didn't check out the latest "Behind The Funny" episode I posted last time, scroll down below and watch it.  Me, Rick Matthews, Halloween, Karaoke, what else could you ask for?

I've been having a lot of fun meeting new/interesting people at a slew of shows lately.  Special shout-outs go to everyone at The Buffalo Lebowski Festival for giving the comics a runner and providing endless free white russians (see picture: me, Rick Matthews, Walter, Jesus, The Dude), and to the students at John Carroll University who were a blast to perform for and hang out with afterwards!

If you're looking to get a Chet Wild fix around Thanksgiving, no worries, there's no shortage:
ROCHESTER - WEDNESDAY
7:30am, "The Wease Show" on 95.1 The Fox
7:30pm, "Chet Wild's Comedy Showcase"
BUFFALO - FRIDAY & SATURDAY
10:30pm, w/Steve Wilson at Merge Restaurant

*click posters below for more info*
Lastly, here's a new episode of "Behind The Funny".... quite possibly the most pointless episode yet!  Rick and I have fun messin' with the crowd and then sing some karaoke on Halloween.... can't beat that.
Thanks for reading, hope to see you at a show soon!

About a month ago, I had the pleasure emceeing a weekends worth of shows with Brad Trackman.  Not only is Brad an incredibly funny comic, he's also a hell of a nice guy who was kind enough to sit down for a few minutes between shows and share some stories and words of wisdom regarding the world of comedy.  So, check out the latest episode of Behind The Funny...
Also, I somehow have 12+ shows in the next 10 days.

Wednesday (tonight) I'm rocking the Re-Up Comedy Showcase at Jazzy's in Buffalo, then doing 5 shows opening for Chas Elstner at The Comedy Club in Rochester this weekend, then 12:30am Sunday is a comedy show at the Buffalo Lebowski Festival (comedy on bowling lanes, can't argue with that), Sunday night is the Rochester/Buffalo Comedy SWAP at Boulder, Tuesday doing a corporate gig with Jamie Lissow, Wednesday opening for Tim Joyce at The Buffalo Irish Center (plus Gusto coverboy Rick Matthews) then co-hosting open-mic at Merge, Thursday is a day off although I'll probably swing by MODE, then down to John Carrol University on Friday to open for Kyle Cease.  Here's a poster for the Tim Joyce show:

Headlining Comedian Angel Salazar…

…I won’t comment on how he was still sleeping in his hotel at 7:30pm when the first show was supposed to start at 7:30pm… and AGAIN sleeping when I introduced him to the stage at the late show.
…I won’t comment on how his most recent joke is circa 1988 (no… wait, he did have an interracial joke about Ted Danson and Whoopi Goldberg dating, that was early 1990s – right?).
…I won’t comment on why I think it’s a god-awful decision to-what-one-could-only-assume mix booze, cocaine, and oxycontin together EVER – let alone before a performance in front of people who paid hard-earned money to see your has-been ass from one movie that was made before I was even born.

…I will say THANK YOU to everyone in the audience who stuck around for the whole show.
…I will say THANK YOU to Rick Matthews for helping me debrief the audience and fill out the remaining 25+ minutes of the show.
…I will suggest that you listen to Brother Wease & the gang talk about the whole incident.  Click here for the radio clip... or should I say, "sheck it out!"

There will be a very special episode of “Behind The Funny” on how to be the world’s biggest douchenozzle and have an epic drug-induced meltdown on stage... and it'll feature the best man for that job, Angel Salazar.

Until then, enjoy this new episode featuring my visit to the sleep clinic to take care of my sleep apnea:
Below are a few pictures from the past 2 weekends, click to enlarge.
Feel free to click "comments" up top and leave one.

All the best,

I've been trying to release a new episode of "Behind The Funny" every Monday... so far, so good.  In this weeks episode, I sit down with Rich Vos (Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central Presents, Opie & Anthony) and talk about speech impediments, a funny Seinfeld story, and Vos's dream comedy show.  Enjoy... and watch through the ending, as there are previews of the next 2 episodes including my battle with sleep apnea and an interview with Jim Florentine.
This weekend was an AWESOME weekend of comedy.  I had a great time opening on 5 shows for Jim Florentine and found myself writing new material on stage.  Additionally, "Chet Wild's Comedy Showcase" had another great turn-out and congrats to Nigel Larson on winning the audiences approval for best act of the night!  I also started working on a new bit where I bring an audience member on stage and interview them, and I was pretty happy with how it went.  You can click on the pictures below to enlarge them and get a visual for what I'm writing about.
On Sunday, Rick Matthews and I went to "Ointoberfest" with Benny on camera, and we documented our experience (similar to our Buffalo Wing Festival video on Behind The Funny).  Oinktoberfest is a big barbeque festival where there are all sorts of food competitions and as well as opportunities to taste BBQ from a variety of places.  Oinktoberfest itself was a letdown, but we did meet some awesome people and the food we sampled was fantastic!  That video will be out in a few weeks.

Following a dismal Bills game, I headlined my first true club show on Vinnie Paulino's 5 Shots Comedy Show.  Despite starting off with a heckler that ended up getting bounced and having a front-row audience member bump my stool on stage which resulted in my glass falling and shattering everywhere, it was still a fun 30 minutes on stage.  Thanks to Vinnie and Tizo for producing that show, excellent job!

The icing on the cake, however, would have to be reading Kyle Cease's blog this weekend.  Kyle was holding a contest on his website to win a VIP spot at his comedy bootcamp next month, and even though I didn't win - he highlighted my entry on his most recent blog.

"I fucking love what Chet Wild just wrote, I thought that if you really read what he wrote, you will see that he is someone who is going after his destiny, and sees the true value of what his life will be like and how to maximize opportunities [...] I recommend everyone read that so you can see how much you really can do with something [...] You just need to trust yourself and truly take action. Go full force. It is the only way to live. We have this one life and we truly half ass everything. Any of you are capable of writing what he wrote and really seeing a future. Nice job Chet." - Kyle Cease

In case I haven't said it recently, thank you to everyone who's been supportive of me and to all of the comics I've recently had the opportunity to work with.  Comedy is ready to blow up in Western NY and I'm glad to be a part of it.

See you at a show soon!
